The PCAB® Seal of Accreditation is a new system of standards created by the PCAB®, a board composed of the leading experts in the compounding pharmacy field today. Our new accreditation status as a PCAB Accredited® compounding pharmacy lets you know that Community Pharmacy shows dedication to protecting our patients by practicing safe, high-quality compounding.

In July of 2011, Community Pharmacy earned the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board’s Seal of Accreditation for meeting the compounding pharmacy industry’s highest quality and safety standards.

To earn the designation “PCAB Accredited® compounding pharmacy,” Community Pharmacy completed an extensive application that was reviewed by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board. Our compounding policies and procedures were then reviewed by professionals. Next, we opened our doors for an extensive on-site inspection led by compounding experts. Only when these stringent evaluations were completed did the PCAB® officially grant us the PCAB® Seal of Accreditation.

While the compounding pharmacy is regulated by the state, PCAB® Accreditation is an even more comprehensive way to ensure a compounding pharmacy has undergone the compounding pharmacy profession’s most rigorous review and inspection measures.

Community Pharmacy is honored to be among the first in the nation to earn this new accreditation, as it sets Community Pharmacy apart from other compounding pharmacies. It confirms our commitment to providing safe, personalized solutions that meet the medical needs of our patients and healthcare providers who rely on us for these specialized medicines.

If you would like more information, please feel free to call us at 940-484-4400 or visit the PCAB® website at https://www.achc.org/compounding-pharmacy.html

Compounding is the preparation of a customized medication to solve a problem or meet a specific patient need.

Perhaps a patient has a gluten allergy or can not swallow pills. Perhaps a patient needs a medicine that is in short supply. For whatever reason, many people require a medicine that is not a mass-produced medication.

Compounding medications may have special flavorings, dosage forms that are unique, or innovative delivery methods.  Compounding pharmacists work with the doctors like the OB/GYN, the Family Physician, the Internist, the entolomologist or other speciality physician to provide health care through customized solutions for specific patient needs.

Compounding is a great option to consider for people who:

  • Have allergies to common mass-produced medicine fillers (casein, gluten, dyes, etc.)
  • Aren’t taking medication as prescribed due to unpleasant side effects or lack of improvement
  • Need custom medicine strengths and dosage forms (like creams or suppositories or troches)

For the patient, compounding can be life-changing, even lifesaving. For the pharmacist and doctor, finding a medicine solutcon for a patient’s healthcare needs is satisfying and rewarding.

Community pharmacy is an accredited compounding pharmacy.  Our Community Pharmacy pharmacists are prepared to help you with personalized healthcare needs.
