Pharmacy Clinical Services in 2021: Community Pharmacy

Pharmacy Clinical Services

At Community Pharmacy, our mission is to provide patients with the highest quality pharmaceutical care and service. As part of that mission, we go beyond prescriptions and compounding to offer a number of clinical services which provide you with comprehensive care.

Below, you can find a full list of clinical services that Community Pharmacy offers along with brief explanations of each. This will help you find the service that’s right for you.

Immunizations

You don’t have to make the trip to a big-box pharmacy or a crowded doctor’s office to receive important immunizations for yourself and your family.

At Community Pharmacy, we administer a number of vaccines depending on your needs, including:

  • COVID-19
  • Flu
  • International travel (including Yellow Fever)
  • Routine childhood and adult

For a comprehensive overview of CDC’s recommended vaccines, including required vaccines for Texas students, read our recent blog post here.

Point of Care Testing

When time is of the essence, and your health is at stake, you can count on Community Pharmacy for accurate and rapid point-of-care (POC) testing.

With our POC testing, you can receive real-time diagnostic results for COVID-19 testing, flu & strep testing, cholesterol screening, and more – all in a matter of minutes.

Pharmacist-led Weight Loss Program

There is no shortage of weight loss programs to choose from, but when you choose a pharmacist-led program, you can be rest assured that an experienced, licensed health professional will guide you in the right direction.

Our pharmacists are always available to talk with you about your weight loss goals and help you overcome certain challenges you may face along the journey.

Blood Pressure Monitoring

According to the CDC, a healthy blood pressure level is less than 120/80 mmHg. No matter your age, it is important to proactively measure your blood pressure levels – especially since high blood pressure rarely shows visible symptoms.

Higher than normal blood pressures may increase your risk of developing health problems such as heart disease and stroke. Health conditions such as diabetes and obesity are known to increase your risk of developing high blood pressure.

Measuring your blood pressure at Community Pharmacy is quick and painless, and if you find that you do have high blood pressure, our pharmacists can work with you and your physician to arrive at a treatment plan.

Medication Therapy Management

As pharmacists, it’s not enough to simply dispense medication. The goal of pharmacists providing medication therapy management is to make sure that the medication is right for you and your health conditions and that the best possible outcomes from treatment are achieved.

Our pharmacists work closely with you to ensure your prescription is taken correctly, monitor side effects, and provide you with other important education. At Community Pharmacy, you will never be left alone on your medication journey.

Adherence Packaging & Medication Synchronization

Adherence packaging and medication synchronization are closely related services. Each aims to make it easier for you to stay on track with your medication regimen.

At Community Pharmacy, we utilize Pharm Pac®, a state-of-the-art prescription packaging solution designed for patients who take multiple medications a day, including daily over-the-counter items.

Pharm Pac® gathers all your medications according to their respective administration dates and times to ensure they are taken properly. Their custom-printed labels – which include patient name, medication name, strength, and dosage time – make taking your medication a breeze.

In addition to Pharm Pac®, we also utilize Simplify My Meds®, a free service that synchronizes all your monthly prescriptions so you can pick them up from our pharmacy in a single visit. With this program, you no longer have to make multiple trips to the pharmacy for each one of your prescriptions!
